Seller Identity & Marketplace Privacy

MotorCircle protects sellers from having their private contact information displayed publicly, while preserving accountability when a transaction becomes real.

Marketplace-specific policy

The MotorCircle Trade Store is separate and uses its own sales/returns terms. These pages relate to third-party Marketplace transactions.

Public browsing

A public listing can show a MotorCircle seller reference such as MC-S-184205, broad location, seller type and reputation information without publishing the seller’s private telephone number, email or full address.

MotorCircle private records

MotorCircle keeps the seller’s legal identity and relevant account information privately for transaction administration, fraud prevention, disputes, safeguarding and legal/compliance obligations. Additional verification may be required.

Before the buyer commits

Private sellers remain represented by their MotorCircle seller reference and verified-private-seller status. Where the seller is acting as a trader, MotorCircle provides the business identity, geographical address and available business contact information required at the appropriate pre-contract stage so the consumer knows who they are contracting with. Normal buyer/seller conversation still stays in MotorCircle Messages.

After payment

Buyer and seller communication stays in MotorCircle Messages by default. For seller-delivered orders, the seller receives the buyer name and delivery address reasonably needed to fulfil that order. Personal email addresses and telephone numbers remain private unless a specific workflow lawfully requires them or the user deliberately chooses to share them.

Platform reporting obligations

MotorCircle may need to collect, verify, retain and report seller identity, tax, transaction, fee and payout information where required by UK digital-platform reporting rules or other applicable law. These compliance records remain private and are not published on the seller listing.

Seller due-diligence/reporting records can need to be retained for five years after the end of the relevant reportable period. MotorCircle may also ask a seller to re-confirm address details or re-verify information when required.
