MotorCircle Ltd (company number 17457033) operates MotorCircle, a UK automotive platform that helps motorists describe vehicle problems, find suitable repair businesses, source parts and use related marketplace services.
1. Who we are
MotorCircle Ltd is the controller of personal data collected through motorcircle.co.uk unless we state otherwise. You can contact us at hello@motorcircle.co.uk.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use MotorCircle, we may collect account information, contact details, vehicle information, repair-request details, postcode or area, conversations with the MotorCircle Agent, photographs you choose to upload, saved businesses, marketplace activity, business-profile information, membership information, payment-related records, device and technical information and records of communications with us.
Please avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information in repair requests or conversations.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and improve MotorCircle, create and manage accounts, save and resume repair requests, identify relevant types of repair business, match requests with suitable businesses, support parts sourcing, operate memberships and marketplace services, prevent misuse, maintain security, handle enquiries, comply with legal obligations and understand how the service is used.
4. AI-assisted features
The MotorCircle Agent uses AI-assisted processing to help structure information supplied by users and guide them towards relevant repair or sourcing routes. It is not a remote diagnosis and does not replace inspection by a qualified repairer. We may send the minimum necessary conversation content to technology providers that process AI requests on our behalf.
5. Repair requests and photos
Saved repair requests are private to the relevant MotorCircle account and authorised MotorCircle administrators. Where a user chooses to share a request with a repair business, MotorCircle aims to provide the business with the information reasonably needed to assess the opportunity rather than automatically disclosing an entire private conversation.
Uploaded repair photographs may be linked to the relevant repair request and used to help users and repair businesses understand the work being requested.
6. Business profiles
Repair businesses may provide business names, addresses, service areas, contact details, services, logos, photographs and other profile information intended for display on MotorCircle. Some enhanced profile features may only be available to eligible paid members.
7. Lawful bases
We rely on one or more lawful bases under UK data-protection law, including performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations and consent where required. The lawful basis depends on the particular activity.
8. Sharing information
We may share information with service providers that help us host, secure, operate, communicate, process payments, analyse or support MotorCircle; with repair businesses or sellers where a user asks us to facilitate an enquiry or transaction; and with regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or professional advisers where required or appropriate.
We do not sell personal data to advertisers.
9. International processing
Some technology providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including account administration, dispute handling, legal compliance, fraud prevention and service improvement. Different categories of information may have different retention periods.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, object to certain processing, receive certain data in portable form and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
