Returns, Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation and return rights depend on the stage of the transaction, the reason for the request and whether the seller is acting as a business or a private seller.

Marketplace-specific policy

The MotorCircle Trade Store is separate and uses its own sales/returns terms. These pages relate to third-party Marketplace transactions.

Before payment

A buyer can leave checkout without completing payment. No sale is created until the Marketplace payment step has completed.

Buyer cancellation after payment

If payment has been secured but the item has not yet been dispatched, a buyer can request cancellation through their Marketplace order. The request becomes a Resolution Centre case and seller proceeds remain locked while it is open. If the seller agrees, an eligible single-item order that has not been dispatched and has no seller transfer is refunded automatically through the Marketplace Stripe payment engine; more complex cases remain in the Resolution Centre. The buyer receives the full eligible refund. Seller-side refund processing and handling charges do not reduce the buyer refund. Where the seller is a business and the buyer is acting as a consumer, applicable distance-selling and consumer cancellation rights continue to apply.

Seller cancellation

A seller can cancel before dispatch if they cannot fulfil the order. Once buyer payment is secured, that cancellation is recorded as a Marketplace case and the transaction moves to refund pending rather than seller payout. The buyer receives the full eligible refund. The seller account can be charged the original non-returned payment-provider cost attributable to the refund plus the published MotorCircle refund handling fee. Repeated seller cancellations may affect selling privileges.

After dispatch

Once an item has been dispatched, a simple pre-dispatch cancellation is no longer appropriate. The transaction moves into the return, delivery or case process. Return postage responsibility can depend on the reason for return, the seller type, the buyer type and applicable law.

Change of mind

MotorCircle does not give private sellers an automatic platform-wide obligation to accept every change-of-mind return. Business sellers selling at a distance to consumers must comply with applicable consumer cancellation rules and exceptions. Sellers may offer terms that are more generous than the legal minimum.

Faulty or not as described

This policy does not remove rights relating to faulty, unsafe, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods. A buyer can open a Marketplace case and MotorCircle can keep seller proceeds on hold while the issue is considered.
